I was also able to get my hands on a custom fabricated reproduction of the prototype flash hider that Crane was developing, but never went to production. Kind of a cool novelty piece.

Some don't realize you can't just buy the parts any day of the week for those projects. It's a real project on a number of levels, learning, sourcing, building, and ultimately having a successful end product. Not a big clone myself, but I can certainly see how one derives much satisfaction especially from some of the harder ones such a Mod 0.
Beyond all that, I imagine that's one of the most fun rifles to shoot, as most Mk12s, or SPRs are.
