Look if it isn't issued by Uncle Sam it isn't a Mk 12 we all know that, I understand you are obviously passionate about the Mk 12 but this is an enthusiasts site for the AR. You will see all sorts of designations that don't exactly fit; SPR, Recce, Mk12, M4 relax it is a picture thread and they are all AR15s.

My tone wasn't harsh in my original post (noted by the lol's and smiley faces), no need to really relax. I'm just pointing out the lack of attention to detail. If you want to call your AR15 with a 16" pencil barrel, A2 stock, and flip up front site an "M4", go right ahead. Just expect the raised eyebrows from many.

Again, no one is suggesting it needs to be 'issued from Uncle Sam'.

I'd feel the same way if someone haphazardly slapped a Stingray emblem on their 1969 Corvette for nostalgic reasons, but didn't at least install the correct hood.

Like you've eluded to...just call them all AR-15's if one doesn't know the differences. Problem solved.

You know you may be right. Maybe Mk12 is bandied around too much...

Having fun with the mk12 and exploding targets...

Daniel Defense Recce (not really a Recce, but when Daniel Defense made it they called it an SPR even though it had a 16" barrel...)

I'm not sure why you have taken such a special interest in me, but you will probably notice that the rifles in those links share the characteristics I was speaking of. I'm not really sure about your intent here, but ok.
