Best way to store Modular Sleep System?

I picked up a few brand new MSS (Modular Sleep System)4 pc Woodland camo for dirt cheep, and I was wondering what is the best way to store these. I took one out to "play around" with it, the other two are new in package. Does keeping it rolled up in the stuff sack cause any long term damage?

    As always, Thanks.

I think the general care of a sleeping bag is to not store it compressed since it will reduce the loft over time, and make the bag cooler. When I was in no one did this though. I keep my personal bag on a wood cedar hangar.

I heard you should store them uncompressed and laid out or hanging up. With that said I keep my bags compressed and haven't noticed much difference in performance.

I store my entire sleep system (bivy cover, patrol bag, heavy bag) in the compression sack in my ruck, given I have my ruck with me atleast 3 days a week. I keep it cinched as tight as possible whenever it's being stored. I'll be honest: I'm too lazy to unpack it when not in use, so there's no particular reason why I store it this way apart from that.

I don't really know if it causes long term damage to do this...mine works just fine up here in Alaska. Pretty much everyone in my unit stores it like I do with no issues.

Yup. Not that anyone bothers in the military with the issued ones.

Privately I have a synthetic 2 season bag and a down 4 season bag. The synthetic bag stays rolled as its for warm weather and it won't make any real difference. The down bag when not in its compression sac packed in a ruck is kept in a storage bag supplied by the manufacturer. With the storage bag you loosely roll the doss bag with no real pressure on the feathers and put it into the bag, then place in closet. Like Belmont I have cedar nearby, in my case a couple of blocks from Lowes.

You can use any large breathable bag, large pillowcase for example, to store a doss bag in. I have seen the mesh netting material bags used also.
