    Glock: two uppers, one frame

I have considered purchasing a gen 4 Glock 17 for carry and IDPA. I would like to be able to put a Lone Wolf G24 top end on it for USPSA Limited.

Would regularly using two slide assemblies on a single Glock frame be detrimental in the long term? I'm vaguely uneasy about two slides wearing the frame unevenly. However, I can't find any evidence for this actually being a problem.

    Anyone try this?

i do it with my g34, sometimes run a 17 upper with no issues. the gun has about 20k thru it between the two uppers.

    Will a Gen 3 G24 slide fit on a Gen 4 G17 frame?

    No, it won't.

    actually it might...
the new recoil spring assembly requires a larger hole in the slide, but the frame end of things may be similar enough to work.

i base this on the fact that a G19 slide (gen 3) fits and functions on a G26 lower (also gen 3, obviously)...
so assuming the new Gen 4 spring assembly is similar to the old subcompact dual spring assemblies... it should work. assuming of course that everything else is the same too.

Since there's some question as to whether or not Lone Wolf top ends will fit on a Gen 4 frame...I asked Lone Wolf. Their response:

Our slides and barrels work great with Gen 4 Glocks. If you are
going to use our slide(s) you will need to use a Gen 3 guide rod and
spring, the Gen 4 guide rod and spring will not work with our slides.
