    Question re barrels

Has anyone ever seen a barrel made by Mike Rock that was chrome lined?

Has anyone ever seen a barrel made by Mike Rock that was anything but SS?

Has anyone ever heard that LMT uses Mike Rock to make their barrels.

No conjecture please. If you have comments, please be prepared to support it.

    Thanks!

I do believe that the LMT MRP barrels are made by Mike R. I also think that Denny @ GTS has gotten some chrome lined barrels from Mike R. in the past.

Mike Rock does the blanks for Denny's Operator barrels (which are chrome lined CMV) and Compass Lake does the finishing.

I purchased a LMT upper from Denny's Guns that has a 1x9, 5.56 chamber, 11.5" SS barrel that was advertised as being made for LMT by Mike Rock.

I can only tell you what I have heard from Mike Rock and Denny personally.

From Mike Rock: "I just got another order for 10,000 blanks from Karl Lewis so I won't be able to run your 6.8 blanks for a couple months."

From Denny: "I use Mike Rock blanks for my Operator barrels. Mike runs them with oversized bore and groove dimensions for us and LMT so that the barrels don't have to be etched prior to chrome."

I'm sorry that I was not standing at LMT when the barrels arrived to photograph the shipping labels, but rest assured that these were first-hand phone conversations that I had with both people above.

    Mike mostly sells blanks.
He does not profile a lot of barrels.
Denny has his blanks profiled by Compass Lake.
I don't know if LMT runs them in-house or jobs the turning work out.

I have personally purchased chromoly steel barrels from Mike Rock.
One of them is sitting at Denny's right now.
Feel free to call Denny and talk.

I wish i had seen this about 2 hours earlier. Funny- it has never come up in conversations with Karl, but then again, i never asked him.
    Shame on me!!

Someday if my wallet can take it I want to get a Mike Rock 5R blank and send it to ABS to make it into a carbon composite 18" mid-length for my 3gun rifle. The older I get the more I like my rifles as light as possible.

In house I believe. LMT has acted as the sub for other firearms manufacturers in the past providing finished barrels from blanks.
