It looks like the 11.5" Vero SBR's will use the shorter 7" rails.
If indeed they roll out a 9" rail, then I've got all sorts of silly ideas in mind to accomodate a reflex suppressor.
(11.5"/9" rail, 14.5" Middy with the current SR15 rail)
I'm just curious what could be accomplished with a Centurion/KAC fusion rifle (one of Monty's Mk12 barrels with some E3 love, URX, on SR15 Lower)...

I'd like to respectfully disagree with this statment. Tell me if I'm wrong, but your eye is too close to the rear aperature to tell what its center is. Thus, trying to visually center the tip of the post in the rear aperature is pretty difficult (at least for me). I really enjoy being able to align the hood on the front with the rear aperature, and know that I'm always aligned the same. This makes for a true repeatable sight picture (IMHO).
I would like to hear a good answer to this, though. In fact, I asked his exact question in the light forum yesterday; haven't gotten an answer yet. Even if you use an offset mount with say a G2 or similar at 11'Oclock, it's difficult to reach the sight to deploy it (at least for my big fingers.)

The SR-15 will be a similar configuration to the pictured SR-16, but not exactly. It will be a non-ambi lower, without rear QD points, Vero Beach Mfg, KAC gun.Stock will be CTR.
I'm still not tracking what would prohibit mounting a flashlight on the top rail . If a fold down front sight were to occupy the rail space on the front it could not be used for a flashlight mount location anyways. I have seen UNSs utilizing a portion of the sight as mounting point and a UNS is much heavier that a flashlight. If it is the release button for the sight , well there is an easy solution for that.
The hood on the sight, duly noted but sights are one of those things that you can just never please everybody. One thing that happens is often we look at the picture of the sight and the relation of the scale of the two sights at a certain distance and then they get moved to a different distance and relationship of the sizes of the 2 sights change.
Part of the problem perhaps is a limited amount of shooting with the backup sights all together. With the limited actual usage of back up sights they do become neglected. I would say in general I would put more of a priority for the sights to be low profile, light weight and of course rugged. I guess its one of those things like a seat belt, you never really need it till you really need it.
One issue is on the 11.5" gun is that the rail runs out to the end of the bbl and a sight can not be placed any further. If you guys want to put some configuration ideas out there for guns , go ahead, photoshop away. Certainly use of parts currently in inventory plays some part in what options are offered.
Your priorities with this very unique and innovative sight design are spot on. I was not knocking your sight as I do not really see how you could practically put standard ear shape on it. I think for a BUIS it is what it is and very well thought out. Now for a fixed rail mount or standard FSB an HK type hood would not be my first choice, but for your design it makes total sense as you made something lighter and more low profile than anyone else and it "is" a backup. I think all of us get a little egocentric in our thinking sometimes and miss the point of someone else's priorities in design and mission. It is a neat sleek design for its intended purpose.
Any new cans in the works?
