We miss you, AC.
We miss you, ToddG.
@Stick or Rob: does that battery trick work with a DD Front sight placed snug against the X300?
@III: I realize I'm jumping the gun by months, but would I be correct in assuming that at some point in the product cycle you'll be selling 11.5" SBRs with the IWS lowers and the mid-length URX-II's?

That's really the only setup I'd be interested in anyways. I mean, KAC or not, I hate 7" rails. And if I'm gonna have to pay an inevitably large sum of money for a KAC factory SBR, it's definitely gonna be one with an up to date, modern style rail that allows me to grip the rail as close to the muzzle as possible, just like my two twin 11.5" BCM/URX II uppers do. Plus more rail space is also always nice for allowing more mounting options with lights, PEQs, grips and pressure switches, rather than limiting you to only a few setups with only 7 inches of rail space.
What can I say, I like having lots of options. Plus the URX II middy rail on an 11.5" upper just looks insanely awesome! Throw in a suppressor and it's almost too much awesomeness to safely look at without eyepro.
Bad pics, but you get the point (still waiting for my approved Form 4 for this sweet NT4 can):

Sweet setup Paul!

That would seem to be the question of the hour, certainly, but my concern is that much of this may depend upon the commercial success of the first run. If too many shooters choose to hedge their bets on an anticipated IWS/mid-rail run later on, that could potentially translate into slower sales for the first run. That might serve to forestall the release of a second SBR run indefinitely.
Were I in III's place, I'm not sure how much enthusiasm I would want to be generating right now for guns that are not yet built at the possible expense of those that are. Granted, for my purposes, the IWS lower is more than just a mere preference, but this may be a case where we've no choice but to wait and let things play out a bit before we see too many more developments on the KAC SBR front.
I'd love to be proven wrong, of course, but business is business, and KAC already has SBR product ready to move.

Great points AC. III has already stated that they may not do other factory SBR releases if this one doesn't sell well. It seems many folks want a more "Costa" type SBR, myself included. I think the initial offering is a neat configuration due to the coveted flip up FSB, but I would prefer a midlength URX II. I've been spoiled by that rail, which I think is a great design. People can gripe about the integrated front sight, but I think it is an ingenious design.

I feel the same way. A while ago I had the same setup just with a 14.5" Colt barrel.
A 7" rail doesn't allow near enough room while still being comfortable for the shooter.
Here was mine:
Most of the people Ive talked to who would be serious about buying a factory KAC SBR do not want this setup.
I'd like to see a 9" URX (including the integrated front sight) for use with 10.5" barrels.
Count me in as another who'd like the see factory 11.5" SR15E3 uppers with the midlength handguard.
