    Question for M&P experts

I want a tritium front sight and black rear sights

I was thinking Bowie tactical. Anyone have experience with them, and what height are the factory M&P sights

Anyone else running this config? What brand of sights are you using or recommend

The .230 front sight is equiv to the S&W factory front sight for a fullsize and compact. (.250 for the 5" slide). Difference is they measure the total height, including dovetail, while S&W measures the slide to top of sight height. The rear is equiv to factory.

A plain Warren Tactical rear and a tritium front is a great combo to.

+1 this is the set up I keep on my carry gun....I also have one setup with the 10-8 rear and the tritium front....both of those setups are great....I know folks like GotM4 don't like a serrated rear, so in that case go with the Warren....if you like the serrated rear, go with the 10-8

I wish Ameriglo would make the Hackathorn sights for the M&P...I have that setup on my glocks and really, really like it

    This.

I've tried a few different set ups. Including the Warrens, trit dot front plain black rear, a 10-8, Trijicons, etc.

For me, I've determined the front is way more important than the rear. I dislike white outlines, dots, and all the other so called "fast" sights. I prefer a serrated front with a tritium dot, with no white outline. Heinie, is about the only one with this set up. Its probably what I'll run for the forseeable future, unless I go with Dawson adjustables.

I have two M&P's with Ameriglo ProGlo fronts and one with a Warren tritium front. All three use 10-8 rear sights. 10-8 now makes a front with only the tritium insert.

I think the factory height is .165"...not exactly sure though.

I just picked up a M&P 40 fullsize with DCAEK and RAM, along with the Ameriglo Proglo front sight and plain rear. I love the pistol, it is set up exactly the way I want it, shoots great, and is super accurate. The sights are great for my "aging" eyes.

Do you have any preference for a u-notch versus square notch?

Lately ive become a huge fan of the Warren Sevigny carry sight sets and the huge square notch in the rear makes picking up any size front very easy. Ive also found the definitive edges of the square notch really help me line everything up properly. I understand the concept behind the u-notch but for whatever reason i get alot of vertical stringing due to the imprecise lines. I havent figured this one out since you would think if im lining up the TOPS of the sights like i should be everything would be A-OK however, it is not.

Decide whether you want a u-notch and go from there.

Since you want a tritium front your decision is made a tad easier as front sights only come in certain thicknesses.

I have the Bowie Operators (Amber/Green) on my full size MP45.

The rear dots are barely noticable in the light. I really like these sights.
