Yes, even Colt hammers are cast. I see a lot of broken ones in our SMG's. Id like to get about 20 Q-Buffers to see if it would reduce our spare parts costs.
Life is too short to deal with Blonde women, or carbine barrels over 10.5 inches

None of the three had a hammer like the one pictured.
Good Lord! Is BM scrounging the country side for parts or what? Nothing seems to match from one AR to the next!

BM would know though?

Good bolt anyway. A reliability kit and off to the races.

I bought a bolt today that was advertised as Colt ($64). It is stamped CM. Does Colt use any bolts stamped CM?

IIRC, of M-16/AR-15 lower internals, the hammer, selector, trigger and bolt hold open are cast. The disconnector I beleive is a machined stamping.

Some of what I've seen in the last year or so has reminded me of the stuff that got cobbled together in the Y2K frenzy, mid to late 1999. Unfortunately, that time period was also when our patrol rifle programs started in earnest, and a great deal of buying occurred. What a mess.

Colt Bolts are stamped MPC. The extractor insert should be black and the spring should be red in color.

I think you got a Stag Arms (CMT) bolt. Open it up and look at the extractor. Does it have a blue extractor insert?

The extractor insert is black. The only bolts with blue inserts were advertised as LMT.

I was in no need for just "another" bolt; I bought it because of the name. Am I wrong in being disappointed in this purchase?

Wow they got that backwards. LMT bolts always come with a black extractor insert and a crane O-ring. They are also easy to ID as they have the letters "MP" followed by another letter stamped into them.

Unless your bolt has the stamp markings that I described, I don't believe you got a Colt Bolt (sorry).

If the extractor insert is black, it's probably not a stag.
Could be a CMT sold by Rock River as they have black inserts.
CMT's sold by Stag have the blue insert.

Current LMT are marked, but ones from a year ago or more are not marked.
ALL LMTs will have black inserts and O-rings on the extractor spring except for the dual spring "enhanced" bolts but you would know if you got one of those.

Very good post with a lot of good information here.

I have two BM rifles and two RRA rifles on the way for T&E. It will be interesting to see in what is in them and what is not in them when they arrive.
