My every-day shooting kit includes one of those Midway screwdriver kits with 20+ different bits.
One of the bits is a 3/16" hex key.

If I were not traveling with this type of screwdriver kit, a flathead would be better, but when you HAVE the tools, the allen screw is certainly better.

I have a Bushmaster AR and I never had any problems with it. Bushmaster makes good stuff, but for the life of me I can't understand two things that they don't offer:

    1. M-4 Feed Ramps. (although I hear that they are now offering M2 feedramps, which is even more ****ing stupid because now you have three different extensions instead of two.).
    2. F-Marked Front Sight Base. Why not have the same standard height for all the front sight bases this way you don't have to buy a a taller front sight post if you use a BUIS. Absolutely retarded.

All the other crap I hear about I have no problem with such as the commercial buffer tubes and the fact that they don't stake the carbine stock (just put some locktite on it if you think it is going to be a problem.).

Their lowers are good-to-go, but I would never buy an upper from them until they get their shit together.

They should use F marked FSBs on their carbine barrels and standard FSBs on their rifle barrels (as Colt and FN does). This would cost them money which is why they apparently don't.

Dude, don't get me starting on those who use Loc-Tite on CAR receiver extensions (RRA).

. I always use a little drop of Blue Loc-Tite and never had a problem. The receiver extension stays on but at the same time, I don't have to use a torch to take it off.

Well that's probably not that bad. Torque and staking is the correct way and works. I've never had and correctly torqued and staked castle nut come loose. I can't say that about only torqued but not staked castle nuts. The torque holds it, the staking just ensures that it can't come loose. FWIW, liquid bonding agents aren't mentioned in the TDP nor TM.

RRA uses what seems like about 1 liquid ounce of Loc-Tite.

If you have the tools to do it right, by all means do it right. Unfortunately I don't, so I have to use what I have.

OK now as I said before I have M-4 feed ramps but now I looked and my front sight has an F marked on it. (It has an F with looks like R1 in a circle then what looks like a 1 after) do I have an anomaly or something?

The F should be all by itself. Some manufacturers have other characters on the FSB but not right next to the F.

Here's a non-F FSB on my wifes 11.5" SBR. The F should appear on the left side of the FSB.

My RRA midlength had a F FSB that I shaved to a lo-pro gas block. You can see the F through the JP rail slot just forward of the gas tube roll pin.

You can barely see the F on my Colt 6920 uppers FSB

More than likely it isn't a real F height FSB.
