The Marlin .30-30 knocks em down

Decided today after not seeing much last couple of times out if I see a doe she is mine At 10:00am this fella walked out. 50 yards and bullet went in just at the shoulder/neck crease and exited low ribcage behind elbow on other side. Fell in his footsteps.

Federal 150 grains did the trick.

Did you have a good knife to dress him out?

I know most European hunters would laugh initially, but a Marlin 1894 in .30 WCF or .45-70 Govt would be my first choice for one of their driven boar hunts.

They would not be laughing after seeing the carnage left by the Yankee rifle.

Tasty looking buck you have there!

This morning I had a small chunk of elk venison for breakfast. My freezer is getting low. I need to spend some time in the mountains and fill it up again.

    Congrats on the fine buck.

It's hard to beat a lever action 30-30 for those close shots on a deer. I hope he tastes good.

    I've got a Winchester Model 94 that I love.

Have you shot any of Hornady's Leverevolution rounds yet? I'd be interested to hear what people's experience with them were.
