The 60 is interesting. For some in a fixed position the 100 could be useful.

WRT the Redi-Mod/Mag. The 60 isn't going to be a viable alternative for a portion of the current Redi-Mod users.

The use of a Redi-Mag on a patrol rifle is often to keep the reload with the gun. Many times the patrol rifle is deployed quickly (often as the car is slammed into park and the user is exiting), without time to grab a vest /chest rig or other support gear.

That reload with the gun isn't just about ammo capacity. It’s just as much about being able to quickly work through magazine related malfunctions or malfunctions that require stripping the magazine. In a circumstance where you were not afforded the opportunity to grab spare magazines... For many it’s mostly about that.

So a 60 in the magwell for that user when they used to run a Redi-Mag still requires a spare mag solution. Many are not allowed, don't want, or have no room to mount a spare on their duty belt.

It's been awhile since I did any 3-gun. What's the typical round count for a rifle stage these days?

I would try the (60) rounder out. The (100) looks a bit large and cumbersome.

I don't woiuldn't make the (60) rounder my primarydefensive magazine, but it would be fun to have at the range to mess around with.

He is armed and dangerous, and has been spotted in the West Side area, armed with a meat cleaver in one hand and his genitals in the other...

Having another magazine for magazine related malfunctions was the point I was making earlier in this thread. I've tried to convince several guys that it isn't just about round count but some just won't listen.

My solution is that I have a 30 in the rifle and two 20's on my vest carrier (our Department recently approved an external vest carrier and we can have mags on it). I find that two 20's on my vest is barely noticable (I really like the way the carrier moves the weight off my hips) and gives me 3 mags and a minimum of 70 rounds when I deploy my rifle. The 2 20's are always with me and I don't have the extra weight of the Redi-Mag and spare mag on my rifle. I also have the 2nd spare which gives me the option of carrying barrier ammo in that magazine.

I also have a double drop leg pouch that holds 2 more 30's if I have time to put it on for a total of 130 rounds.

That's over 95% of AR related items available out there. Can you say "AFG" or "BAD lever"?

Sure Fire 60 and 100 round mags

These mags look wicked. I am wondering if Sure Fire went retro for the basic design and inspiration. The 60 rounder from the pics looks like it may have been influenced by the Great Finnish M 31 Suomi sub gun coffin or casket 50 round 9mmx19mm mag. Great mag, great sub gun. Heck these mags can even be used in a Swedish K if you remove the mag well.

A bit of a historical note the M 31 designed by Lahti (yeah the the 20mm anti tank gun guy) was manufactured under license by the Swedes, Danes, and Switzerland. I used to shoot a Swedish pre may sample a lot. Heavy but a cool sub gun. Work you Google foo, vintage sub guns rock.

Has anybody seen the interior of the mag or a cut away diagram?

Wicked cool, put me down for two.

If the 60 is reliable then I think it will be pretty cool. The 100 might be cool with the 3 gun crowd.

I'm willin to bet SF designed these at the request of someone.

Its amazing what you don't need until you need it.
