    Surefire Mags, Patrol vs Competition

I would def be interested in a couple of 60's for the competition side of things, and I would def carry one if proven on patrol BUT not as my primary mag, I will stick to the 30 with another 30 beside of it. I believe that two mags on the gun is more insurance than one mag with 60 bullets. When I have seen beta mags cost guys matches is because they spent to much time dicking with the beta and should have just reloaded with a 30 and finished the stage, or they didn't even bring another mag to the stage with them cause they had "100" rounds.

I agree that the 100 round one is just pretty retarded. Maybe if they shortened it just a bit to maybe 80 rounds it wouldn't look as homoish...

I wouldn't want something heavy (60 vs 30 rds) and relatively untried to be what I was carrying in my weapon at all times either. It would introduce more fatigue and potentially cause a malfunction in the decisive opening moments of a firefight. One in my LBV for when the shit really hits the fan though might work.

As a cop, in a very rural county I've carried an AR of some sort for 20 years both on patrol and for SWAT. I've usually carried a 20 in the weapon and 30(s) for back up whether patrol or SWAT. The 20 is just less bulky and catches on less gear. I would like to have one but it would serve as a back up load. If I've shot and require a reload it couldn't hurt to have 50 or 60 rounds coming up.

I'm curious how this will compare to the Magpul offering.

I agree totally, I'll keep my redi mod for now, and with two 20's or two 30's in it and a 60 rounder in my back pocket or in my grab-n-go shooter kit. IF I were to go thru 120ish rounds in an engagement in a LE Scenario, I should have tactically retreated or learned how to ****ing shoot better.

From competition side, I think if they work they will be VERY popular.

    KKJ- Out.

Here is a small intro to a new product on the market from SureFire. We had the opportunity to “molest” this piece of gear at our recent Magpul Dynamics Handgun II/Shotgun class in Louisiana. The MAG5-100 was shot through a Spikes Tactical 12.5" Mid-length with a SureFire MB556 Muzzle Brake and a Bravo Company 14.5 Mid-length with a SureFire Mini Can.

The MAG5-60, a 60 round box magazine, is also being released. Standby for extensive reviews of both in the future.

I like the idea of the 60. I don't really have any use for the 100. I will probably buy a couple of the 60's for use in the house gun, and maybe one in they duty gun for mountain marijuana gardens.

I was unaware the Surefire 60 round and 100 round Magazines would be illegal in Ohio. I thought about sending a PM with my question, but thought others could benifit from the answer.

Dave, what makes these illegal, what part of the ORC do they violate?

Agreed. Necessity is the mother of invention.

The 60's look more practical for patrols and urban warfare. the 100's, as others have said, static defense. It would be a bear to lug around for long range movement.

I'm in for two of the 60's.

I understand them being more exspensive but these sound overpriced. If the 60rd was under $90 I'd be sold.
