    Firearms training on Spike TV..

I was flipping through the channels and noticed Spike had some firearms related training shows. Nothing advanced but after watching the three shows offered some good information. The shows were Practical Tactical, Concealed & Carry School and Your life may depend on it. Just thought id share.

I watched bits and pieces of both. I found some mistakes made on the shoothouse run, most notable ones were not "tac" reloading when moving to the next room and clicking the safety off early ie..taking your self out of the fight to quickly.

Only thing I didn't like about the CCW show was everything they recomended was a revolver or at least in the segment that I watched. BUT....I was very glad to see shows like this on standard cable TV.

That or a berretta storm . I'm also glad they are showing firearms in a positive way. I guess over time we will see better programming and up to date tactics. Overall that block of 2 or 3 hours of t.v. is worth watching. We even get a little LAV from time to time .

I'm usually not up early enough to watch them. The few times I have caught them I have been super impressed with the way they label us gun owners as good, responsible folk that aren't crazy and/or looking for trouble.

I have watched those shows a lot and the "training" info is not all that useful. The only shooting show that has ever taught me anything about actual shooting is Tactical Arms. The other shows are just fluff in my opinion.

They didnt really teach me anything either. But I can see where they could be useful to someone that is completely new firearms and CCW. I maded my wife sit down and watch it since the one episode was about womens defense in unexpected situations.

"tac" reloading will take most people out of the fight faster than a safety will. Tac relaods are only good in a very few situations (99% of them = you and a partner covering you as you relaod), almost never by yourself.

I am on the "Because Lives Depend on It show", you have to understand the focus of the block of shows SPIKE produced. The idea was to bring the message to the un aware that you need to defend yourself and that the police, as hard as we try, more than likely won't be there and you can, and need to prepare for that. It was not meant to be a training video as much as an informative set of shows that show folks there is training availible and give them a bite of what is available.
