Bell and Carlson Medalist for 10FP(update with pics)

Well after long consideration I will be going with the B&C Medalist stock for my 10FP. Initially I was going to go with the Choate sniper but it just seemed a little heavy for my taste. My question is, will my newer 10FP made this year work with this B&C stock. I noticed that previous models had the screw spacing at 4.275" and now they are at 4.40". I already ordered the stock from Stockysstocks.com and was told that it should fit but it seems that there aren't any aftermarket stocks out there for this particular newer model because of the newer screw spacing. I looked at the Duramaxx and really liked it but was told that it would not fit as well. Does anyone run this Medalist stock with the "blind mag" and how do you like it?

Yes, it will work. I have the same stock on my 12FVSS, which is the same newer centerfeed 4.40" style. I really like the stock...it's solid, looks good, and at a fair price. I've shot mine out to 1000 yards with no problems...and it's a .223.

Medalists are nice, and are a good drop-in option. I have the light tactical version on one of my Rem 700 prairie dog guns.



Since then I've added a Harris bipod, and the B&C stock is great for prone or benchrest shooting.

I have the Medalist for my 10FP, .223.



I had some feeding problems with my blind mag, which I eventually tracked back to my front baffle being too long. The bolt wasn't allowed to travel as far to the rear as it needed to, to pickup a round from the magazine. I thought it was the magazine, so I had the stock inletted by CDI for the AI box mags.

I got the stock back, loaded a AI mag with some dummy rounds, and saw that they sat even further back in the action...there was no way they were going to feed.





I took the bolt apart, took about .2" off of the tail on the front baffle (part being measured in above pic, took it down to about .7"), and it runs perfectly now. I'm sure if I had done this with the internal mag, it would have fed just fine.

If you notice that you run the bolt fully and don't pick up a round, grinding down the front baffle will give your bolt more travel.

I've run one with the blind mag, I ended up doing the mag conversion from SSS. For the money it is just hard to argue with your decision on the B&C. Heck for more money you might not get a much better setup until you spend large sums.

Just took a peek at the stock as it's suppose to be for christmas. Will I need to drill a hole for the rear trigger guard screw? I only noticed two places for the two furthest most screws to go.

Yes, if you want to use that screw.

I drilled for it eventually, and the screw just spins in the hole. With the recess for the trigger guard, you can get away with just using the front screw. If you use a 1 piece bottom metal assembly like the CDI magazine system, I wouldn't even bother using that rear screw.

Put the stock on. Was very impressed with the drop in easiness. Had to get the Blind mag to sit just right so it would feed but other than that I am pretty impressed.
