As a left handed shooter I have never had any problems manipulating or operating even a stock M16. With the creation of replacement controls for the AR15 platform geared towards left handed shooters things are even better. In my opinion there is no need to shell out money for a left handed AR. The standard ones work just as well. I have never had any issues with brass, or gasses while shooting left handed. Hope this helps.

I switched to Stag LH. I don't like explosions in front of my eyes. I have 2 stags, a 2T that I staked the Castle nut and the gas key plus a custom build up HB. The 2T has about 4200 rounds thru in in 2 years and the HB has about 1000. No issues. it I were going to fight everyday with my AR, I would choose a different manufacturer in RH. But for what I will need it for, the extra protection for my face is worth the trade-off.

I don't get the whole "explosions in my face" thing. Not saying gas in the face can't happen, but I am saying that I practice weak sided (lefty) a lot and have never had an issue. Good eye pro is key.

It's possible to run a right handed AR without anything. But an ambi safety makes it much easier. After that I would add a extended tactical latch for the charging handle, like the large version of the BCM Gunfighter. Lastly, I would add an ambi mag release. Now it's possible to actually do a tactical reload.

I took the easy way out and bought a KAC SR-15. The lefty mag release is way better than any of the ambi add-ons parts. It's really a cut above. You can also buy the lower separately from some vendors and add whatever top end suits you.

I'm right handed but shoot rifle left-handed and prefer to run a standar AR. I've never had an issue with gas or brass and find that running an AR lefty has many advantages, even without the ambi controls.

The issue isn't my face, IT'S MY EYES! The ejection port is directly in front of you right eye. I have had primers blow, cases rupture and ejectors fail on a number of firearms thru the years. That's why I wear safety glasses and use left hand firearms when I can. No problem if you want to use a rt hand gun. But when I have a choice, I will chose "safety first" for sporting / practice situations.

There's another option if you want left hand eject.
