    Dicks Sporting Goods

Dicks is having a sale on ammo (and other outdoors/hunting stuff). I don't know when it ends but it started yesterday. I scored 1000 rounds of Remington UMC for $140 out the door.

They have some UMC .223 and other calibers as well.

My transaction was a pleasant surprise compared to my usual ventures into Wal-Mart. I think I might spend more of my ammo money at Dicks for here on out.

I buy my 9mm and .45 ACP FMJ from them when they have it on sale, usually it's Remington UMC.

    Thanks for the heads up!

    9mm, yes?

I saw their sale flyer in the Sunday paper, and figured I'd try to stop by there. I'm leaving for Las Vegas tomorrow; maybe they'll have something left when I get back. Among other calibers, I need 30-30, which looks to be on sale for a really good price there.

    Yes, 9mm.

I should have been more specific. I didn't see any 45 ACP on sale but then again, I wasn't looking for it. I did look to see what 7.62 was going for and I looked for 5.45x39 (laughing uncontrollably)

    Question Doesn't add up?

I checked my local Dick's flyer (NE Ohio) and the Remington UMC .223 ammo is on sale for $5.98/box of 20 (reg. $7.99), which is $300 for 1000. They also have the "value pack" box of 50 for $16.98 (reg. 19.99), which would be $340/1000. How did you get 1000 rounds for $140? Did you have some super coupon, maybe you really only bought 500 rounds, or they made a mistake?

I bought 9mm ammo, not .223. I simply stated that .223 UMC was also on sale.

Well, based on this info, I drove over to the Dick's in Frisco, TX today and found that a) they didn't have any of these specials and b) they felt running such special was "a pain" (and that's a quote from the gun dept. clerk on duty) as you had all those "rain checks and other problems".

I won't be doing ANY business with them for anything else since they don't want to be bothered with things that aren't clothes, sunglasses, golf gear, kayaks and so forth.

Thanks for the heads up! Fortunately there is a Dick's near work, so I picked up 1000 rounds of 9mm on my lunch break.

FYI, I'm pretty sure the sale prices are valid through this weekend.

    1500 rounds of 9mm (for $30.00 less than 1,000 .45 ACP.)

2,600 rounds of .223 UMC with a rain check for 3,000 more at $5.98/20.

$10.00 for opening an account; $70.00 in coupons coming; no interest if I pay in full in 12 months.

Better bullet and much better brass than the elusive Federal Value Pack. Ultimately cheaper, too.

    What's to hate?

    Next year's training ammo.
