Can SBR and non-SBR rifles happily (LEGALLY) coexist?

Please forgive me if this has been answered, but I could only find one old thread that had conflicting answers. I'm getting ready to start building my SBR and it is my understanding that I can have multiple short barreled upper receivers for a single registered lower. However, and this is where it gets sticky, can I still keep my non-SBR AR? Does that result in "constructive intent"? Someone has to have the answer!

As long as there's a registered SBR lower in your home, you can have all of the NFA-length uppers you want, and keep your other ARs.

Having a registered SBR in your home with two sub-16in barreled uppers plus a 16in non-NFA AR is totally fine. Having two non-registered ARs with sub-16in barreled uppers laying around and non registered SBR is where you get into trouble.

Thanks! To me it falls under common sense, however things don't always work that way.

I personally would make sure every unregistered (Title 1) lower you have is mated to a complete upper. No sense in tempting the ATF by having a Title 1 lower sitting around just waiting for a short-barreled upper to jump onto it by accident.

You're fine. Just don't be foolish and put the shorty on the regular lower, that would be where you get jammed up . I have seen this covered several times and folks get hot and heavy in their debate over the issue. I have two SBR's and a regular AR at home, they get along fine

Thanks for the input! I just wanted to be sure I'm covering my bases. The one thread I read on the topic almost broke down into name calling and left me wanting to seek sanity. My Title I lower will always have a 16" or great barreled upper attached to it when stowed.

The only way you will "tempt" BATFE is if you send them an email with your address and tell them you are a dumb ass. Otherwise I am fairly certain they do not have psychic abilities and actually have real crimes to investigate.

I tried to put a light spin on my post, but when it comes to the BATFE, better safe than sorry.

Judging by this post, are you one of those people that won't use a full-auto bolt carrier because you 'don't want to tempt the BATFE'?
