Front QD Sling Swivel Socket Options

I apologize if this is a topic previously discussed at length, but a search didn't yield any substantial results.

I just purchased a padded VCAS sling (BFG's 50% off sale is sweet). The carbine I want to put it on is set up for a Magpul MS2 in the single point configuration. The installed stock already has a QD socket integrated into the design. This leaves me needing a rail mounted QD sling swivel socket for the front attachment point.

The first products that came to mind were from Gear Sector and Daniel Defense.

An image of the Gear Sector product can be found here.

Thank you Stickman, for the high quality images.

I'm stuck between the two... The Gear Sector looks like it is slimmer and less prone to snagging on gear, but the Daniel Defense is a little cheaper. The Gear Sector says it PREVENTS rotation, but the Daniel Defense says it LIMITS rotation. I would like the slim design of the Gear Sector with the Daniel Defense's LIMITED rotation, not prevented rotation. Does the Gear Sector actually prevent, and not limit, rotation, or is it just worded a little bit differently and actually limits rotation?

If there are any other products that I should be made aware of, or reminded of, I would appreciate that as well. Does Gear Sector or any companies with similar QD sockets offer any M4C member discounts I don't know about?

Thank you in advance for your help.

They both do the same thing...IE prevent the sling from twisting around...a feature that should be standard on every sling socket made but isnt.

Ive got a few of the DD ones mentioned, and they work great. Ive also got some GS products, and they work great as well. Basically you couldnt go wrong with either.

I suppose I could have worded one of my questions better. Will both sockets limit rotation from 'x' degrees to 'y' degrees, or lock the sling at 'z' degrees?

    Yes.
Just to add something, I really like the Gear Sector mounts. I've got one of their scout light mounts and one of their hand stops and love them. Very solid.
BUT, there is one thing about them I'm not too crazy about. Their rail attachments need to slide onto the rail from one end. You cannot simply mount them and clamp them to the rail like the DD one. You will need to remove anything on your rail that's in the way and slide it from one end until it's in place and then screw it down.
I personally feel this is an even stronger design and makes me like it more, but I can see how it would be a negative for some people.

I got 2 of the DD's, and they work perfectly. I would be willing to bet that the gear sector will too. Either would be a good choice.

Well then, I guess it's going to come down to price... I couldn't find anyone selling the Gear Sector socket for less than Gear Sector, so the final question would be: does Gear Sector offer an M4C discount?

Not that I know of but GS' owner posts here, and you'll get better CS from GS than DD based on what Ive seen. Jason (GS owner) is a good contributing member of the site, and is very interactive with his customers. If ever needed anything he'd be right on it. Can't say the same about DD even though they too make a good product. I use DD now just because I wasn't all aware of GS when I bought the mounts I have now.

I've tried ALL of the QD socket rail mounts. The Gear Sector is the one I settled on. It was the least bulky and slimmed up into the rail the best. The DD ones were probably the biggest most bulky ones I tried - big ol' sharp metal box hangin' off the rail.

It also depends where you hold your rifle and where you want your sling attached. I liked the TROY second to the Gear Sector, simply because of it's small size/weight.

That said I'm trying my best to replace my DD Lite rails with rails that have integrated sockets like the Omega X's. Not having much luck though, rplaced my 9", but I need a couple 10" or 11" Omega X's and DD pretty much told me they have no plans on making any more lengths than what they have. Dumb move IMO.

Pretty much every other rail manu that does QD socket are heavier than I'd like. EXCEPT for Spike's new SAR rails. Lighter than DD LITE's and 4 different QD sockets, front and rear, both sides. AND they come in many different lengths. They are JUST starting to ship now. 10"'s will be out in January.

    .

I haven't used the VTac's QD mount but it looks pretty good. I like how it lays close to the rail.
