YHM is not going to hold up for what you want to use it for. They are way too over priced for the improper barrel steel, out of spec chambers and 1/9 twist rate. Look into Daniel Defense or BCM.

Thanks I guess my other options are Sabre, WOA as well as BCM and DD. Looking at a 11.5 or thereabouts with a 1/7 prefereably or 1/9.
Your options for a great barrel that will hold up to lots of firing (milspec steel or better, CHF, CL, 1/7)
BCM (not sure who makes their CHF barrels)
Centurion Arms (made by FN)
Daniel Defense (makes their own on their own hammer forging machine)
Noveske (made by FN)
You mention WOA, but I believe they are offering match grade stainless barrels? WOA are accurate barrels, but a stainless barrel will not stand up to hard use.

I was also considering this barrel. They won't hold up for full auto, but what about for like 3 gun matches, and medium abuse?
How is it improper barrel steel? I don't know much about chrome-moly vanadium steel but I have read before that it was a normal one used for barrels.

Search some of the technical threads in this forum. They can explain it better than I can. To sum it up, the steel in this barrel is too soft, like most commercial barrels. You can get an in spec barrel for the same price if not cheaper than YHM and you will be MUCH better off. Right now, you just cant beat a complete upper from BCM at $385.00 and have the piece of mind that you can run the shit out of it any way you choose and not worry about any major design flaws and failures due to poor quality control.

Thanks for the input. I searched through the forum and didnt find a super lot of information. What I did find wasnt too negative about it. From what I saw it is a normal type of barrel steel. The price isnt good for what they used but not looking at price it's not bad. It's not mil-spec, but then again I am not using it for full auto or taking it back to Iraq to bang against every rock I find. For normal range use and the occasional action rifle/3-gun it should be fine. As far as design flaws everyone who was against it was just against the Yankee Hill name and never used the barrel. There were very few reviews but what I did find by people actually using it all loved it. For the price though I will probably get something cheaper and better like you said though. Thanks for the help.

I. Had bought a YHM diamond fluted barrel a little over two years ago. It was, IMO, way over gassed. Gas port size was too big - the thing kicked like a mule. Swapped the barrel out and noticed a huge improvement. FWIW.
yes another pile of cuss words over yhm barrels less than 700 rds 1/7 20'' gone dead -it started the wondering zero game ....yes the barrel nut was tight and chamber is ok .....so goes a free barrel in the trash !!
