A bit of surfing around that new unproven vendor's site reveals that they primarily sell airsoft junk. In that instance, one should get the overwhelming feeling of "too good to be true" and not gamble on whether or not the item is legit in an effort to save a couple of bucks. The counterfeit Chinese stuff is all thru the AR market and good judgment as a consumer, rather than solely basing a purchase on price, goes a long way.
Good point! I just dont like the way China does this with everything, not only parts but tools, boots and hundreds of other items. Sometimes the Chinese stuff isnt cheap and downright fraudulant when they put a Brand name on something.

I went to a gun show this weekend in Raleigh and of course, there was the table full of the Chi-com knock offs. I always get a kick out of looking over the items to see what new crap they've come out with...or rather copied.

I never know what to do about these people...they're obviously selling illegal copies of goods...much like making copies of CDs and selling them. As responsible gun owners, what should we do when we run into things like this? I've read a number of threads lately where an individual complains because they got a fake...but other than buying from reputable dealers, no suggestions are given on how to combat this.

Anyone have any suggestions? I just want to see the chi-com fake goods dealers disappear and/or be prosecuted.

He didn't say they should, he said they might.

Why though? Because it probably costs them $1.50 to make and this happy customer would rave about it and sell another $500 worth of product for them.

    No Thank you.....

This is why I love this forum. It's the only place where idiots without an ounce of economic sense can make themselves heard...

So you mean when someone rants and raves about a company on this forum it doesn't make or break them any sales?

Again, not what they SHOULD do but what they COULD do. When I sold car parts online and had a small shop through college, I always did crap to make the customer happy even if it wasn't my fault. A free quart of oil to top off what Jiffy Lube screwed up went a long way towards having the customer come back for something else (brake job, alignment that I farmed out, etc) and for them recommending someone to me.

But I guess I have no economic sense.

Although Magpul certainly has no duty to do anything here, they might want to know about this so that they can look into any trademark, trade dress, or other intellectual property infringement issues that may exist.

If a vendor wants my business he'll have to advertise here. Not sure if it's a "trust" thing but "word of mouth" beats trying someone new or saving a few bucks with me. Yes, it hurts the new guy and I don't consciously choose to do so, it's just the way it ends up being.
