Here is my first build. I built this to be a general purpose rifle, as it is my one and only AR. It will see varmint duty, be next to my bed every night, ride around in my vehicle with me, and by the time I graduate college and start a career in law enforcement, I will hopefully be able to use it for work as well. I have had 2 other ARs (DPMS & S&W), and while Im sure the S&W would have served me fine, I had an itch to build something from the ground up with exactly the parts I wanted, and this is what I ended up with.
Upper:
-BCM BFH 16" midlength upper w/ pinned VLTOR gas block
-Troy MRF 13.8" rail
-BCM auto BCG w/ Mod 3 Gunfighter CH
-Troy folding battlesights (standard rear, HK front)
-VLTOR offset light mount
-Surefire G2 LED
-DD forward sling mount
-Troy rail covers
Lower:
Noveske N4 blem stripped lower ($100, hell yeah)
G&R complete LPK w/ Magpul enhanced trigger guard
BCM carbine buffer tube w/ H buffer
Magpul MOE stock
Magpul MOE grip
Magpul ASAP sling mount
Magpul MS2 sling
I took it to the range yesterday. I ran 240 rounds or XM193 through it and zeroed the irons in at 50 yds. It ran like a champ except for one light primer strike, which fired on the second try (dont know what was going on there, all of my brass has good, deep primer strikes in it other than that one). Other than that, no other stoppages. And, since me and my buddy were the only ones there, I got to try some 25 yard drills, and even went prone in the snow (fun stuff). Brass was ejecting at 4-430, which I am fine with.
I plan on putting some sort of unmagnified optic on it. I was going to snag an EoTech 553, but Botach ended their 20% off deal (could have had one for $470 after factory rebate). Now I am looking at either getting an Aimpoint M3 in 2 MOA or a T-1. If the T-1 came in 2 MOA I would be sold, but I will just have to think on it. Other than the optic, the only other modifications I would like to make down the road, but are not necessary now are: a Battlecomp 1.0 and a Guissele (or howerver it is spelled) trigger.
Thanks for looking, and thank you for all of the knowledge that led to this build. I have learned alot from this board, and plan to learn even more!
