    ==================================

    Since it looks like the R-1 is discontinued, if I had to guess MidwayUSA bought all the existing R-1's in stock from Aimpoint. I say you might find one here and there from guys selling them but..."you snooze...you looze".

    Don't feel bad, I paid bills, balanced my check book, and went to Midway to get an R-1 to go with my T-1 ... but...they were out.

    Oh well...

    I would think you will find them on the EE at TOS soon.

    If I had the money I would have bought an extra one for myself... and a couple dozen to sell on the EE over the next few months, at a slight price increase, naturally.

    I was waiting on my x-mas gift of 4 midway $25 cards to arrive to place my order. Oh well.

    I did get a micro primary arms, so if I like that on my 22 upper, I'll give one shot for a real upper.

    This was posted on TOS this morning, I didn't call so I don't know the validity of it, but there might be hope for those who missed the deal.

    I called today just to make sure they were all out. Was hoping they had an extra lol. Lady said they will have another shipment in, in January. I hope so.
    I may pick up a second one if the deal does come back later this month, who knows if it really will or not. We'll just have to see.

    In case anyone was wondering, this is how the R-1 looks unpainted on an AR:

    I think it looks ok, not horrible but not great. I'm not sure if I should attempt to paint it myself or find someone who does Duracoat locally for a good price.

    I'm going to paint mine myself, using the tips that orionz06 posted. Just bought razors, painters tape and some alumahyde ii a couple of days ago. Will post pictures when I'm finished.

    I was playing tonight and found another trick. If you take some time, an exacto knife, and are careful, you should be able to push aluminum foil under the knob and have less silver showing than I do. I have yet to paint mine in this manner, mostly because it takes time and some thick foil, I have neither.

    Thanks! I may have to give that a try.
