Overall, I am happy with my paint-job. I will let it sit on the shelf for a week or two, then mount-it and use it again.

There was a couple of areas around the intensity switch which have some silver showing. Ditto for the inside of the front and rear lenses. As someone has already said, take your time taping and make sure that you sand it down well before you start.

I was going to touch it up, but after considering that it will be used. I'll wait until it gets scratched-up and just paint it over again.

P.S. I used #400 grit sand paper, Lowell's brand Tan and Black spray paint. Also, I found that by using a discarded/ empty USPS Large shipping box it was easy to paint the sight and move-it around without physically touching the sight.
    Did you use semi-gloss paint?

    Cheers

It is supposed to be a flat (non-shiny) paint, but it did turn-out a little on the glossy side.

If I recall what the paint guy said it was basically designed for painting patio furniture.

It looks less shinny in person and the flash/ indoor photo doesn't help either (started raining outside).

Alas, with the digital camera, I am incapable of photos like Stickman or any of the other pros here.

It was a fun project. I recommend trying it yourself if you bought one.

One thing I found is if you paint on several coats of paint at a MINIMUM use at least 2 LAYERS of Painters Tape. Because some bleeding through of the paint will happen.

Although MidwayUSA has blown through their allotment of these closeout R-1 Micros, you can find an "almost as good" deal HERE , there are more than 400 available and the price after using the 5% discount code is about $337 + S/H.

Not quite as good as the $300 deal, but still tempting if you missed out.
