It’s an agenda,” he continued, blaming Republican presidential administrations from Reagan to Trump.

The mayor proposed initiatives to level the playing field between the haves and have-nots — such as seizing buildings from bad landlords, expanding the Department of Consumer Affairs to include “worker protection” and offering medical care to 300,000 undocumented immigrants.

This is simply a preview of what the Democratic Party intends to roll forward in 2020.

I'm thinking that if you want to be a Sanctuary State or City, you are directly opposing Federal Policies and Procedures. So if DeBlasio decides he wants some healthcare for everyone to include illegal aliens, perhaps Federal funding needs to be withheld until they are willing to come on line with the law?
This is going to break the Bank for sure, but I'm almost willing to bet that this sort of policy will be the cornerstone for the Liberal policies presented to the American Public and someone will run on this idea for POTUS.

All of this courting illegals, communists, and others to the left's causes reminds me an awful lot of the Romans recruting the Germanic barbarians to fill their ranks. I know a lot of even-minded democrats who are looking around and the direction the left is going and wondering what the future is going to look like. Somehow, the people leading this charge believe that they will continue to control it in the long run.
