I had zero problems with the 2-peice guide rod on my TRP. But I've always been mindful to tighten it down before and after every range session.

I have the toolless Dawson Guiderod. But, it requires the spring cap to be able to come out of the REAR of the slide. The TRPs and other Springers only allow the cap to come out of the front. They have a "shoulder"that prevents the cap from coming out the rear.
I only use them on Ed Browns, as most other 1911s I have owned don't let that cap come out the rear

Anyone know why they went with the 2 piece guide rod on the MC and TRP Operators? I just bought an MC Operator over the holidays.
To be honest I don't know why SA does a lot of things they do. Why does the top operator come with a bull barrel and target sights....
I have both and have no idea. But I changed mine immediately. I bought from NHC or Ed Brown and never had a hitch. I don't use the FLGR either. Thats a whole nuther story.

I have an MC Operator that has been a great pistol for years. Used it in training, as a daily duty pistol, etc. However, if I had it to do over again, I probably would have gone with the TRP and changed out the sights. The two things the MC Operator lacks that the TRP has: front strap checkering (under that wrap-around MC Operator, the grip is smooth) and a mag funnel. While a WC bullet-proof one piece MSH and speed chute are easy to install, the checkering (then refinishing) is an expensive upgrade. If one wants to stick with the wrap-around grips (which are comfy, but a little bulky for my tiny paws), save a few hundred bucks and go with the MC Operator. A hybrid would be great, but that is what semi customs and customs are for.
