I believe the custom carry starts out at $1700 - at least it did 1 year ago. So, it is a little more. But the Custom Shop guns are sweet

Looking like SA Custom Shop guns are out of reach for me.

I went with the MC Operator after trying out a friends. Super tight fit, very accurate. Was lucky enough to find one NIB on gunbroker for $1025 + shipping, can't wait for it to get here.

Another good option is to look for a lightly used Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special. I have several friends who have gone that route and ended up getting very nice deals for around $1200.

Do you know if this sight has to be fitted or any modification to sight or gun to fit?

    Thanks,

John Harrison does excellent work, and his HD-002 sight is designed for the LPA cut on the Springfield slides.

I take it you want a light rail?

I own the MC Operator. Thus far has been 100% reliable out of the box.

I did however send it back to the Springer Custom Shop and had the S&A magwell fitted and the front strap checkered 20LPI (hand checkered)

I installed a set of VZ Operator II grips in black.

It's a wonderful pistola in the 1911 genre for the money.

Seems their hard to come buy these day's. Most dealers can't get them and only occassionaly do I see them on Gunbroker.

Good luck with your choice. Either pistol is great at their price points.

I have an operator with the full length rail, and would not trade it for anything else. i have had several other 1911s and this has deffinitely proven to be my favorite.

    Multi-color and Tactical Response Pistol

To the OP, you may want to check out the Colt Rail or even the S&W "E" series pistols. They may be something to rule out.
