Quite true. Then again, I am known to carry a fountain pen on a regular basis, too,

Some tools have enough old school elegance and credibility to warrant special consideration. =]

    STS -

You posted in another thread you were looking for real world users of the MC OP and I didn't want to de-rail that thread any further since the OP was asking about wilson cqb's. I'm sure you know of it but go over to 10 8 forums and ask your question in the "service 1911" sub foru. Lot's of real world users over there (you have to be either current leo/.mil or retired or credentialed to even register and post). Like I said you may know of it or may be a current member there but that's where I would start since it sounds like you are LEO.

I am trying to get some first hand knowledge from a member of this community who actually uses MC Operators in a LEO setting, as members of my team want to make the switch and the MC Operator is in the running.
The MC Operator is a solid gun, runs well, accurate, well built, and you can't go wrong with one.

    STS,

The MC Operator's were purchased by the individual officers. When people leave the team they are allowed to continue carrying the 1911. We have a handful that are no longer on the team and still carrying them. The 1911's are only authorized for our team. When someone comes on they can continue carrying what they had or purchase the 1911 and then transition.

Our policy is pretty restrictive so no HK45 or M&P authorized. It took about a year of T&E and research to write an addendum to the policy to authorize the 1911 and that was done before the HK45 or M&P were released.

I re-evaluate our needs and satisfaction with 1911 every year. As of now it still meets our needs. Are there equal pistols available that do not require massive manpower and custom fitting? Most definately.

We still have a small group carrying these guns (under 20) and I do almost all of the inspections and maint. At some point we will probably look at replacing these but as of now that is not the case.

I was looking at a Springfield TRP Full Rail 1911.
Would any of you recommend this gun? I've been itching for one ever since I got rid of my NightHawk GRP w/Rail and kick myself in the ass everyday for letting it go.

I've had both MC and TRP (full rail) Operator. I sold the MC after 200 rounds, but it was solid and I had no issues with it. Great gun wish I still had it. Had the TRP for a long time and put thousands of rounds through that gun. Absolutely reliable (like no 1911 I've ever seen), accurate as a laser, and really a pleasure to shoot due to all of the weight up front. If it's just a fun gun, I'd go with the TRP. Dawson Precision makes a guide rode that captures the recoil spring negating the need for a "tool" to take it down. Wish I had held onto that one as well...

Wow, just realized that this thread is older than time...

If you ever think you might want to shoot an IPSC or IDPA match- get the TRP. The mag well is very much worth the money if you need to perform quick, accurate reloads. Both are great guns, but for me, the mag well is a must.

Magwell is an easy addition to any 1911.

You can fix the guide rod on the TRP. I have both love both. If you have the money and can get a deal, go TRP.
