What have you seen? Several torn case rims and failed extraction.

I've wondered about too much extractor tension, especially when variables combine.

Crane does not make the O-Ring. I buy directly from the company that makes them for Crane.

It is very possible to have too much extraction and actually lock the case into the bolt. This creates some SERIOUS malfunctions.

I have seen extractors that would not snap over the case rim in rifles.
I have seen cases stuck in the bolt face as mentioned above by Grant.

In both cases, removing the o-ring fixes the problem and that's why I attribute the problems to the addition of the o-ring and resultant increase in extractor tension.

We need to keep the whole "extractor tension" issue in perspective.
This is a CARBINE thing, not an AR-15 thing.
Rifles and mid-length guns have slower carrier operation.

And on the ocaisions that the o-ring caused a problem, other springs were also found to be worn out as well.
The o-ring will usually not cause a problem if other springs (ejector & operating) are in good shape.
