    Aimpoint CompC3 versus M/ML2 or 3

An Aimpoint optic that is often over looked by many law enforcement and civilians is the CompC3. The CompC3 is essentially the M3 except that it is not NVD compatible (like the M3) and not submersible to 150 feet (like the M/ML3). The C3 is only submersible to 15 feet or 5 meters. It has a 50,000 hour (over five years) battery life (1/3N Lithium) on setting 7 of 10.

Manufacturer Advertised Pricing (MAP) is $373 for a C3 vice $500 for an M3 or $449 for an ML3.

CompC3s are every bit as rugged as an M/ML 3 when properly mounted in a quality mount and has the same incredible battery life. So unless you plan to use NVDs or scuba dive with your Aimpoint, the CompC3 is a very viable and cost efficient optic for most LE and civilian applications.

G&R Tactical carries CompC3s. Pardon the cheap plug.

    Freddie is spot on!

We have two pre-owned C3's purchased from board members, one 2 MOA that came with an LT Cantilever ($350) and a 4 MOA (275). I'm sure they came from Grant and the proceeds went back to Grant. Everyone, especially we folks who neither scuba dive nor do submarines any more, benefited. Looking hard at Meangreen's 3X Magnifier on an LT Pivot Mount for the 2 MOA C3.

My only complaint is that they dropped the three point battery cap harness. (Yes, I know the battery cap may be loctited: one is none, two is one.) Can't find one either.

    Sub,
I'll confirm regarding Aimpoint dropping the strap. That is news to me, but I don't focus on selling accessories either.

The Aimpoint part number for the standard battery cap strap is 10379. The Aimpoint part number for the extended battery cap strap is 11313. Both retail for $5 each.

I picked up a used 4 MOA Comp C for $225 late last year and it was a hell of a buy. Hooked it up with a Larue M68 CCO mount and it is GTG.

Battery life is not as good as the C3, but I can buy a lot of batteries with the money saved over an ML3 and I don't leave the light on when the rifle is in storage.

Thanks for the thread FJB! I have been telling people all the time that the C3 is one of the best deals going.

I can confirm that the C3 does NOT come with the strap. It of course can be added.

If you have an M2/ML2 cap with post to replace the installed cap (which lacks said post).

If your dealer has the strap in stock.

You can buy the caps along with the strap.

We don't have to go through an Aimpoint dealer as we are a Quantity Buyer direct with Aimpoint.

I 100% agree and of the 3 Aimpoints I own 2 are C3s and 1 M2. I plan one day to buy a M4 but really can't justify one yet (my wife will kick my ass!). We've sold about 10 so far at the shop and I like it a lot. John Boy and Keith (our reps) say that Aimpoint is hoping to do a employee purchase in the future which I think would be great.

Grant, you should put the C3's on your site!
