Help finding a lo-profile offset light mount for an AR

    Hello All,

What are my options for a low profile offset light mount? I'd like something I can attach to the top rail and have it thumb accessable with the off hand using a normal forarm grasp. I'd like to mount it in front of the front BUIS so I was thinking something that takes up the least amount of rail space would still let me get the front sight as far out as possible.

    Ideas?

The GrearSector mount looks like it'd work, but I think I would like something I can take off with a thumbscrew. I have a VTAC plastic mount and it would work, but it seems to take up a ton of realestate on the rail and it seems like it'd be easy to lose the little nuts on the backside of the mount when removing it.

Application: This isn't a duty gun, I plan to use it for 3-gun (without the light) and for a bump in the night rifle/SHTF rifle. So I'd like to easily be able to remove the light, preferably without tools.

Why wouldn't you train with the gun how to plan to use it for defense?

Anyways the GS mount can be taken off in about a minute, and with the thread goo they supply it doesn't have to be reapplied every time.

I'll have to re-read the USPSA 3-gun rulebook on rifles. I'm not sure you're allowed to have a light on your rifle... I don't think it would provide any advantage unless they had a low light stage... in which they would supply a light. I know they don't allow your pistol to have a light on it during competition.

I would plan on having it on the gun most of the time, but I'd also want to be able to easily transfer it between rifles or take it off if I needed a light but didn't want to point my rifle at something... I know you'd idealy have a hand held light as well, but I'd rather have options.

The Vltor mount looks like it would work, but it looks like it takes a decent chunk of rail space as well...

I like the KZ OFM Offset Flashlight Mount. It only covers a couple of rail slots and holds the light close to the rail.

The vltor thumb screw light mount takes 4 slots.
If you are planning to take the light on and off a-lot you might want to consider the QD lever Vltor off set mount because you really have to crank down the thumb screws to insure they don't back off. I can get mine tight enough with my fingers but.. it can be a bitch to do.

I'm doing something very similar, but with a TLR-1 instead of a 1" light on a Daniel Defense 1:00 mount.

Cool, that might just do the job. They've got one from BotachTactical with a thumb screw too.
