I have 1:7, 1:8 and 1:9 barrels in ARs and I have not had any accuracy issues up through 62 grain bullets in any of them - heaviest I've tried out of an AR. As far as military stuff, I found 855 (62 gr.) bullets to be more accurate than the lighter (55 gr.) 193 rounds out of all barrels .

I have a 1:12 barrel on a .22-250 and once I got up heavier than 53 grain bullets, the groups opened a bit. That twist really seems to like the light bullets. Like 40 grains.

You ought to see what 68g match does at 50 yards out of a 1:12 barrel. The group looked like a shotgun fired it and I had two rounds go through the target sideways.
