    Bullet stabilization

While a bullet can be under stabilized, it cannot be over stabilized. It is that simple.

My 1 in 7 twist Bravo company barrel provided this exception group of 5 shots for me at a distance of 100 yards. It will routinely produce sub MOA groups to 400 yards, the furthest I have tried. I feel this barrel is an exceptional tube.

I have to add this composite 300 and 400 yard target to the above post. The rounds on the right were sighters and an adjustment was mde before firing the final 300 and 400 yard rounds included in this target analysis.

I would venture to guess its probably the opposite. The bearing surface of a 55gr projectile is less than that of a 77 gr so it'll probably generate less wear on a barrel. Noticeably so, he'll no. Dump a couple of cases of either and I'll wager they wear a barrel the same.

308sako, those are exceptional groups. What barrel with what load are you using?

It's not the bullet weight that causes erosion in the throat of the barrel, it's heat and gas velocity. The only way a 55 gr bullet can wear out a barrel faster is if it has higher velocity.

All else being equal, a tighter twist will erode at the throat more than a slower twist.

In either case, the practical difference won't be enough to worry about. The 223/5.56 is actually pretty easy on barrels

    Hard to believe but

It's a Bravo Company 1 in 7 lite weight 11.5", the key I think is the AAC mount which acts as a vibration dampener. Also a tuned handload using Nosler Ballistic tips and AR Comp powder to M193 velocities and pressures. 2840ish in this tube.

BCM = f'n tack driver and they want to take them away.

It's nice to see some pics of the accuracy that a carbine can produce with the right equipment. Well done

Hey guys, thanks for your input I will now be purchasing a metric shit ton of 55gr as it is the easiest to find around here in surplus.

I have no problem making ragged holes at 25 yards with my DD 1/7 shooting 55 grain bullets. At 100 is a bit different but still accurate.

Glad to hear you have an ammo supply, that is the one thing limiting my shooting now.

Very nice here is a pic of my DD V1 at 50 yards during initial sight in, using irons. I have to try the 100 yard now that its sighted in although I'm sure adjustments will need to be made.

I hope when I do shoot 100 yards again it looks something like yours.

Sorry for the double pic I cannot seem to delete one lol

I will try and shoot some other 55gr ammo at 100yds and 300yds to see how the groups open up.

Grant how is a bullet over stabilized? I always thought there was stable, and un-stable. I do not understand how something can be over stable. Wouldn't that make it un-stable? Im not trying to question your credibility Im just trying to understand exactly what you are saying. So do not take it as me trying to be a smart ass.

I know a bullet can be over spun or the twist, and speed create to many revolutions per minute causing the bullet to fail by breaking to pieces mid air.

If you do not mind explaining i would appreciate any explanation you can give to help me wrap my head around it.
