I ordered one, at that price with free shipping I just had too. The drop protector kept me from ordering more. I'll see how that works out in day to day use before I commit anymore money to them.

Same here - Aimsurplus, free shipping. I really needed a good excuse to get more mag's.

i will probably not sway from the gi/pmag lot. if i owned the ak74 round upper yep i would get a few(but why not just get a 22lr - personal opinion.) but if these guys put out a working 25-28round 6.8. well my cc would get involved.

From a technical standpoint, they appear to be a fundamentally sound magazine that's derived from a proven design. That being said, I think I'll wait and see where we're at in a year or two before I order any.

So who's gonna be the first person to stipple one of these bad boys?

Absolutely agree, this is an oversight in my initial list. This is also something Troy advertises as a positive feature of these mags.

I have no reason to think they are bad mags, I merely see limited if any improvement over a Pmag for AR users. For SCAR/ACR users they would apparently compare to an Emag in compatibility, and Emags cost more than the Troy mags.

The biggest issue I see for my use is that with the smooth sides, no protruding floorplate (like Pmag or L5) and no ridging in the flats (like an ARC mag) they will probably be more difficult for me to remove from mag pouches than the others I use - still better than GI aluminum mags with standard floorplates, I suppose. The included little pulling tab is a nice feature but I normally grab the entire mag by either the floorplate protrusion or the ARC ridges, so pulling the little tab would require a change in my grip.

I bought mine from Aim, $13.95 each with free shipping... a quarter cheaper than 30rd non-window Pmags.

As some belated background, my main use of the AR is in two-gun competition and practice, and I am not LE or military. All of my current ARs run reliably with a variety of mags, so my testing these for reliability would only reveal any serious defects, which I don't expect.

Mine came today from Aim Surplus. First test will be in the fs2000, hopefully later tonight after I finish my current project.

Well it doesn't mean a lot but I loaded one up to 30 rounds and slapped it into the fs2000. Takes a pretty good whack to get it in there and a pretty good yank to get it out.

That's as far as I got, it's dark outside.
