I do 95% of my AR bore cleaning with a bore snake. I'm not one of the 'it's got to be sterile' gun cleaning guys. I use a Dewey AR chamber rod and brush for the chamber and bore snake for the bore (hence it's name).

That being said, boresnakes do very little to clean the chamber/locking lugs on an AR, so a good chamber brush is a necessity there, IMO.
And that right there is why I don't own or use one.....

Never understood how everyone raves over the Boresnake......Hell. I only clean my barrel every 1000 rds or so... My AR's are not precision rigs that are shooting 1/4MOA.

But yet I can get them all under a quarter with mil spec ammo with 700 rs thru the barrel at 50yds.....

I keep all my one piece cleaning rods at home for cleaning my barrels and a few GI issue cleaning kits with me for use in the field. every try to remove a stuck case with a boresnake???

I have no use for them..mainly because they have no use for me..

I use a boresnake, but only for field cleaning.

Basically, I keep them in my range kit and yank them through the bore before leaving the range. I've found that pulling them through while the guns are still warm removes a whole lot of fouling.

However, as others have said, they don't do much for a stuck casing, so I carry a GI sectioned rod, too.

I do my deep cleaning on a cleaning bench with one piece rods, brushes and various solvents.

Same here. The bore snake gets used twice, maybe three times through the barrel after I brush the chamber with by Dewey chamber rod (or Chamber Maid). These happen every 1000-2000 rounds, unless I don't feel like it, which means it goes longer.

My bore cleaning, depending on how dirty it is, consists of a couple really wet patches (solvent), several passes with the bore snake, then a couple alternating wet/dry patches. I have bore snakes for every caliber I own - invaluable.
