"fit and finish" are right up there with the other f-word.... "flawless".

Of course the words have actual meaning, of course they are desirable, but they've been so perverted by the idjits that they're forever irreparably tainted.

What "fit" means to these people is "my upper and lower fit together so tight I can't slide a pubic hair between them", without any regard for the fact that this matters not a whit, and that to most people that actually shoot removing the upper from the lower without a 5 lb sledge and a pin punch is far more desirable.
What "finish" means is that "it's a nice glossy black which sets off real well against the red and white crayon (or modeling paint) I scribbled in the engraving", without any regard for the fact that none of this will improve their shooting ability while purdy grows mold in the safe.

If what someone means are the more technical aspects that Mistwolf describes, they should also be possessing of the vocabulary (or a thesaurus) to come up with alternate, better, more descriptive words and phrases.

Im new to AR's but I went with a mega billet lower for the sole reason that it has a tension screw. Although I dont even use it on my new build because its very tight with a LMT upper. Are there forged lowers out there with tension screws?

If your gunning for "purdy" than you should try the kiddie site...or better yet, go with airsoft. You're free to put glitter and gold stars on your gun if you want...you can even sing about how awesome it is, but you cannot however sprinkle suger on shit, and then expect for M4C to gobble it up.

I'd also suggest that you might wanna check the ole' attitude when a moderator try's to give you advice.
There is a time and place for "purdy", but it is only when it is Purdey:

For the billet AR crowd with colored in markings, matching finishes, tensions screws, acuwedges, etc. None of these things make your gun more reliable, shoot better, or accomplish anything besides getting you to part with a few dollars. Save your money (for a long time) and buy something that really is beautiful, instead of pretending.

An AR is a tool designed for work. It is a truck, not a Rolls-Royce. You can wrap as much chrome, wood, and leather around a truck as you please, but it will never be a Rolls-Royce. You can never take a Rolls to places that are best served with a truck.

You may be looking for a different experience and need to find a different crowd. The "gold plated" stuff is for someone with real taste and class... like Saddam Hussein. I'm sure his gold plated M16s were billet.

Lol....I agree. A "purdy" AR is one that goes bang every single time and does so very accurately....when a billet lower plays into reliability and accuracy, pigs will be flying

I tried to follow your logic and rebutal but you lost me at wearing full body spandex then talking about shitting in your backyard. From the sound of it you liken your rifles to mountain bikes and toilets. To each their own.

I will strongly suggest you drop the "**** you very much" comments and attitude. It will get you no where and shorten your stay here. I've refrained from handing out infractions for your asinine response but don't take my lack of action as an excuse to continue as you have.

ROTFL..we are debating the merits of billet vs. forged lowers and your whipping out spandex, toilets, bowl movements, psychiatric conditions(OCD), bicycles, and who knows what else was in that diatribe of yours.

Sometimes all you really need to read is someone's screen name....

No bad assumptions were made. People responded to your post regarding billet vs forged lowers and pointed out short comings. Instead of responding with facts and personal observations other than "fit and finish" and it's "purdy" you got butt hurt and then made a asinine diatribe of a post that rambled and made zero sense. You're emotionaly attached to your choice to purchase billet and that's fine but that doesn't make it a good choice nor does it mean that you now have the knowledge to then say billet is superior to forged just because you own one.

Unless you have something to add to this thread that is on topic other than drama I would refrain from posting again. That is not a suggestion. Your call.
