You know what that means. Another project and a lighter bank account.

Is this a fixed stock? Didn't see any mention regarding this in the product description.

It's in the name. "Enhanced Fixed Stock" From the Gear Scout review, "EFX-A1 translates to Enhanced Fixed Stock, with the “A1″ referring to the overall length."

Thanks for that. Sorry to waste your time.

So, for those of us in ban states, what are the benefits over a traditional m4 stock that is pinned? Storage space and sling points is all I am seeing.

If you are using a rifle length gas system this works with the existing buffer tube. Not meant to be a replacement for a collapsible, its to replace a A1 or A2 fixed.

Not a waste at all. I'm seeing uninterrupted cheek weld and rigidity as the biggest benefits.

Does it just mount to a standard rifle buffer tube like it appears? I can see swapping out the old surplus A1 stock on my current build for one of these in the future. I don't really care about collapsible stocks for this build since it is more of a rifle build anyways.

From what I gathered, yes it attached via screw to the factory rifle buffer tube.

I don't know about every "ban state" M4s, but there are a few carbines that have been posted on here, as well as my own, that have an extended buffer tube that is longer (way longer) then a collapsable MilSpec tube. However they still run off of Carbine length buffers. Mine has an H buffer in it. The internal portion of the tube isn't machined to the end of metal. I'm assuming, and the consensus of "assumption" I have gotten from shooters here in NY is that they are rifle buffer tubes that are machined to accept a Carbine length spring.

Long story short it's a pain in the ass.

I'm looking at this and the Vltor and thinking that in order to make this a viable option on a ban state rifle like my own, I will have to replace what ever joke of a tube they put on my rifle, before I can install this piece of kit. I wish this wasn't the case, but I'm thinking it is not going to be an easy install for those of us with pinned "compliant" carbines.

If someone on here is willing to tell me otherwise please inform me and others.

For those in ban states that are looking to purchase this though, I would suggest doing some serious measurements research, it may not be as easy of an install for us, as it would be for people with more freedom to tinker.

For me, all and all with the time in rounds down range I have with my pinned stock, and after doing some measurements I'm thinking I wont get much benefit from the investment. If I build a new carbine I'm all about it, but at this point I think the fixed M4 stock is working.
