+1 for the Kershaw Blur non Serrated.

I have carried one for about a year in a tip down position and use it pretty much once a day, and have yet to sharpen it. It is still extremely sharp and it has been put through some rough stuff.

It is really lightweight, extremely fast and easy to open, and you can't go wrong with the textured rubber grip.

I really like the CRKT M16-14M

For the most part this is my daily carry. I carry the M16-14M's one in each back pocket. If I'm carrying my pistol I do not carry the fixed blade. The stuff on the folders is sticky 220 sandpaper disks for an orbital sander. I was a cabinet makers for several years and ended up with tons of this stuff on roles... It was free, it works great. The lighter gray M16-14M has been "stabbed" into the side of a truck bed to prove the durability of the CRKT knives, and to prove it could be used to cut auto body metal in an emergency.

Someone ask me why I carry at least two knives... I told them my little brother is also on the same Volunteer Fire Department that I am and he keeps borrowing one when we are on runs together, because he is too cheap to buy his own. At car accidents scenes he will yell over at me, "Sword... I need the Sword!!"

The real reason is I like to be able to get at a knife with either hand.

To the OP. My favorite in your price range is the Benchmade Griptilian or the Ultra-presidio, however it is hollow ground and shouldn't be used for prying anything. For cutting tasks it will seem like a light saber.

The grip is a great value, but the full steel liners of the Ultra Presidio make it a no brianer for me. I buy them as gifts for folks who need a good "first" knife.

I carry a kershaw blur tanto with serration. Most i use it for is the occasional opening a box. But i keep it in my top pocket of my scrubs for self defense reasons.

Most of the time I carry a Emerson Commander. I know it’s more than the $70 max you want to spend but it’s a rock solid knife. It took me a bit to fill up the change jar to buy it but it was money well spent.

That being said I own a few different Kershaw and SOG knives that work well. The main two that I carry are the Kershaw Blackout and the SOG Flash 2. Both keep an edge fairly well under heavy use, mainly opening boxes/bags and cutting rope. Both of them have serrated blades and if I had to buy them again I would go for the standard blade. The serrations are harder to sharpen and a sharp blade can cut through most rope well enough.

As a long time Delica and Endura carrier, I will say the new(er) H1 steeled Salt is my new favorite. It has no metal liners so its lighter, a larger hole so its easier to deploy (like the rescue) and steel that holds an edge quite well AND doesnt rust. Outstanding in every way.

Im going to say the Gerber Fast Draw also. It is relatively cheap at Walmart $30, and easily available if you lose it. It is light and simple. I have had 2 because i lost my first and carried it everyday overseas cutting zip ties for razor wire and other things. They are fantastic.

I have a Kershaw Blur and both the mini-Griptilian and Griptilian by Benchmade. Most days I carry the full size Griptilian. It fits my hand better then the mini and seems a little more safe then the Kershaw. I like the axis lock. It is tight. The blade is well shaped and takes abuse. Also, the Kershaw has popped open when it fell out of my pocket and that could be embarrasing/dangerous in the wrong situation.
