    Thanks for the input.
That's one. How about other contracts for 5.56 cans (as that is what is what this thread is about)?

Great (again). This isn't about .338 cans though (FYI).

I don't think you can just make a blanket statement that dB doesn't matter because the round is supersonic, but I also think that most of the well-established makers are all very close in terms of noise reduction making it a non-issue.

You right, but if it is close (which most of the quality cans are), it really doesn't matter because the human ear won't be able to hear the difference.

For instance, I cannot hear a difference between my M42K or Blackout VS my SF K can. What I can see though is the large POI shift difference.

To some folks, like those who wanted the M4-S from Ops and those who will ultimately buy the Mini4, dB isn't the most important criteria. That is pretty obvious to everyone, right?

After using the M4-2000 for several years, I am leaning towards a Mini4 now too. It will cut the blast, flash and concussion inside a room. Pretty important factors.

...and it will cut the weight by 6oz and the length by more than 3"?

Even with the 2006 M4-2000, with no ears on, inside a shoothouse, it's pretty farkin' loud, at that point I'm really only concerned with mitigating sound signature and blast/concussion.

Everyone else can come to their own conclusions.

I'm thinking 762SDN6 and Mini4 interchanged as needed would be a pretty good pair to have.

Also, you should make a thread on variant of the 762SD-N-6. I have no need for QD in that application and suspect others would have the same thought.
The SF .338 we have and have tested is around 147dB.

    TITAN .338 is around 132dB.

    TiTAN-QD (Ti) is around 137dB.

I'm not certain when we will work on thread 7.62mm silencers again. We are currently very happy with the performance of Cyclone family of silencers. And most of the changes in the 762-SDN-6 were made to improve the use with gas guns.

We have won the 5.56mm contracts since May 2006.

Understood. But, I don't believe you will see this difference in current production products.

And there are requirements other than sound and POI shift. Durability is another example. Durability is a primary consideration for assault rifles and machineguns. This is why we fully robotically weld, and made the change from 600 series Inconel to the more durable Inconel 718. This has helped us to produce a superior product.
