A while back I ran across this thread at professionalsoldiers.com where some members there did the legwork to get the information to out this guy. Looks like his situation went south pretty quickly.

He had a pretty impressive career and taught at a couple of different colleges. He claimed to be a former Green Beret and that the movie Taken was based on him and his daughter.

I was surprised when I ran across the article on FoxNews. I knew the guy's career was going to tank just from the thread at professionalsoldiers.com, but the arrest is something else. Hopefully they'll get more than just mail fraud on him though. He sold his services to many LE departments and colleges.

He wasn't just a run-of-the-mill "Delta Force Seal" at the gun show. He worked and was paid for many years using this farce.

The thread at professionalsoldiers.com is worth reading just to see how those guys worked to take him down. The end of the thread has quite a bit of updated information in it today.

Yes and no. It will have listed the units you were assigned to but not necessarily what you did. You can be assigned to SF units and not be SF.

My moms ex husband was in the Army and claimed to be a SF medic. Had all sorts of cool stories about his group and his uniforms even had SF badging. But looking into his stories I believe he was just a medic at HALO school. Being assigned there he might have had to wear a SF patch.

Wow, people who do that kind of thing are disgusting. Lying about what you did in the military is bad enough, but basing your career on that mountain of lies?

My DD214 from the Army and Coast Guard only lists the last unit of assignment. To find out about other units you need to access the 2-1 or 2A file. In the CG we didn't have an equivalent type of document.

Yes and no. It will have listed the units you were assigned to but not necessarily what you did. You can be assigned to SF units and not be SF....

This guy was a Coast Guardsman for 8 years. I assume Coasties get a DD214. That pretty much precludes being an Army Colonel. There are web sites that will "out" poseurs.
