I know what I am asking is somewhat subjective but you guys running them how hot do these style rails become when running the gun hard vs a Larue,KAC etc with ladder type covers ?

It really depends on the barrel profile and where the gas block is located.

I gave my son my primary M4orgery so am digging through the parts pile to put another together. I have a Centurion mid lt weight with a old LaRue block that I'm setting up to pin. I have a 12" Larue but am really thinking hard about one of the "round" style guards not just for weight but ergonomics. I need this gun to be relatively hard but having to glove up is not something I want in the cue
