great read, iraqgunz. the folks at vltor are good people and eric has a great mind when it comes to weapons design.
if anyone is curious about pics, i visited vltor in 2006 and did a little 4-part writeup with some pics (all with eric's approval of course), which can be seen here - part 1:

we went out to the range afterwards with some of the weapons in the vltor armory:

    Thanks for the visit!

Thank you IG and markm for coming down to visit - just so everyone knows the no picture thing was due to the goings on at the time they visited. Next time I will make sure they leave with plenty of eye candy.

    Thanks again...

The origins of this project arose from the military needs of having reliable sources of Soviet bloc weapons that can be used to conduct foreign weapons training for our military personnel.

Until recently there was little interest on our military people having this knowledge. However, the prolonged deployment of our men and women in uniform to the Middle East which is awash with these weapons shows the need for them to have that knowledge. Using old stocks of captured weapons is not a reliable or always safe source for these weapons. Having personally worked on a variety of Soviet weapons in Iraq and in Afghanistan it was a definite challenge to always keep them up and running, especially with the variances that can be encountered. The program is also going to address issues such as spare parts, tools, training and gages which is more often than not overlooked.
Does this mean a 100% US made Vltor Ak?

thanks for the writeup, very jealous and so glad to have companies like Vltor in the US (wish I had some local resources).

That facility is amazing looking, truly something I would expect from them. Also interesting to see their move towards the FN line, looking forward to seeing the fruits of that endeavor.

Naturally, this piece leaves me thinking that there might be some wisdom in doing something similar for other players in the industry.

    Suckup!

All jokes aside this indeed was a great writeup and I agree that I would really like to see this done for other companies. We often talk about Company X or Y and what they do right. It would be nice to hear more about the goings on inside the building as well though.

Was there any mention/evidence of the Bren Ten/Fortis pistol?
We appreciate those who stand by and support us. They are true patriots. We have to question the motives of those who continue to tear us down on this forum. They cannot stop us. Their petty feeble minds are easily exposed. The XCR will gain momentum until it covers the whole earth. There is no other platform like it and it is the best.
