Newbie Looking for Help on First Build, Very Nub

My brother left for oversea work and left me his AR-15 (LMT MRP Gas Piston / Defender Lower, knowing nothing about the gun, I took it to a range for a shot and felt in love with it. And now I am going for my first built. I do mean it when I say "know nothing about the gun" so give me heat I will be asking a lot of very stupid/newbish questions, sorry !!!

After reading many post on forums and talking to some local gun shop helpful people I realize I still know nothing, but have decided to go with the regular gas system rather then the piston. People told me that its the best way to learn the AR-15 system.

Upper Receiver: Vltor MUR 1A or 1S?
Newbie Question 1 - If I field strip and clean every 1000-1500 shot is the forward bolt assist needed? (that is the recommended number of shots before field strip cleaning right?)
BCG: Spike's tactical Nickel Boron BCG

Lower Receiver: Spikes Tactical Zombie Killer Striped Lower
LPK: I been told Daniel Defense make a really good one but I been having trouble to find it in stock anywhere. Second on my list is Stag.
Trigger: Timney Single Stage 3lb Skeletonized

Barrel: Noveske 16" Lightweight 5.56mm Stainless Barrel
Newbie Question 2 - Know nothing about gas tubes, explanation and suggestion pleaseeee

Hand Guard: Trying to decide between Troy VTAC TRX Extreme and the Troy BattleRail TRX Extreme ( Which one will be more comfortable?)
Newbie Question 3 - Do the length of the rail matter? aside from the fact that later on I might add VFG, laser, light and not have enough room. Are there anything important I am completely missing?

Front/Rear Sights: Magpul or Troy? Should I get a very good one when I have already borrowed my brother's Trijicon Acog indefinitely?
    Stock: Magpul UBR Stock
What Receiver extension should I get?
    Grip: MIAD™ GRIP KIT
Vamfire California Bullet Button, no choice here
    Light: ElZetta ZFL-M60

So here is the ultimate question, does this build even work? Please give any feed back. My goal is by building this rifle I can learn the system, so any suggestion/explanation would greatly help.

PS, I am not good with abbreviations, if you could elaborate that would be awesome !!!

Thank you for reading my post !!

Since you are new and you have no idea, my recommendation is to get something simple ( I know brands are limited in CA) and then see what you want after you use it.

You can upgrade or change stuff later after you learn the ropes.

Zzzake, I think that sounds like a good straightforward idea. My first AR was a Bushmaster, and while not that great a rifle it helped me learn the basics. Recently after I sold it in college, I decided to assemble my own using a Bravo Company upper and Stag lower with a Stag LPK.

Or if you really just want to assemble your first rifle, consider a rifle kit from Del-Ton. That will save you a good bit of money and allow a good bit of experience for a newb.

I would buy a Daniel Defense or LMT and just build off of that in the future.

Looks like you did some good research on parts. I would stay away from delton and dpms parts as in parts I'm talking internal parts not stripped receivers. They are just sub-par in quality compared to others.

All of your parts picked look good. I would just go with a spikes stripped upper and keep it simple since you are going with a spikes lower. it will save you a few bucks as well. Go with the DD LPK. as far as a trigger goes id go with a gessiele over a timney, just personal preference. The troy TRX will be a lighter rail and give you a cleaner look. All depends if you need a quad rail or not. The length is completely up to you. I like using one thats long enough to hide the gas block. Sights I have a set of troys and love them.

    Hope this helps
