Question Why is the terror threat level so high?

So why is the terror threat level (or alert level or whatever it is called) so high? [Janet Stupidtano is the one who announced it...]

The govt is saying that the primary threat is HOME GROWN TERRORISM. No, that does not mean veterans, NRA members, people not on welfare, etc. this time. It means muslims within the USA.

So please let me ask a question:

Why are we letting people from muslim countries immigrate to the USA? I mean, WTF?? It's like leaving the front door to the house open during the summer and then wondering why there are flies inside.

Because there are a billion muslims in the world, many of whom are well-educated, industrious, and have a desire to prosper in one of the freest societies in the world.

Very few have a bomb strapped to their ass and I fully support immigration restrictions on those who hold seditious and/or violent views.

And I'm well aware that ferreting out these individuals is often a difficult task, but that's one of the trade-offs in an open society. A society that demands absolute security invites absolute tyranny.

Because the Patriot act is back up for voting.
    No other reason.

So they can pose a threat requiring sweeping new legislation to address that threat. As the threat will be from the "citizenry" (since we've made these individuals citizens) the "new legislation" will need to supersede part of the US Constitution to be effective.

Even without bombs, they are a threat to this nation. Islam is simply incompatible with the US Constitution, and unlike followers of other religions, for the Muslim Islam comes first.

And it isn't terrorism or the risk of Ft. Hood style shootings that makes them dangerous, it is the changes they seek to make in our culture that does the most actual harm.

That is because Islam isn't just a religious belief, but an entire culture with related political and legal systems. Unlike immigrants of the past (like my great grandfather) they aren't required to denounce these beliefs either.

Sounds vaguely familiar to the arguments made against J.F.K.'s Catholicism fifty years ago.

And now we have six Roman Catholic justices serving on the Supreme Court (and two Jewish justices) with the sole Protestant justice nearing retirement.

Frankly, religious fundamentalism, regardless of sect, is incompatible with the U.S. Constitution. Fortunately, most folks who adhere to one faith or the other are not zealots and when the tenets of their faith run headlong into making a buck and getting ahead in this world, religion takes the backseat.

Just got my weekly physical at the TSA security checkpoint.

I'm looking for a small country that will sell me diplomatic immunity, or some small municipality that will allow me to get thr security faster. Is there a air Marshall reserve program? I'm flying all the time with anyway.

Shhhh... We don't want to offend the Catholics It's not as if we're a nation founded by Puritans or anything I mean we (I can say that since my family goes back to the 1600's in this country) loved them Catholics that's why we never dared to prosecute them for their religion. Oh and let's not get started on that Pope. He was well respected by the colonist.

Funny thing is you now have a new generation of people who despise the Catholics, most "Christians" I know don't see Catholics as Christians but instead idol worshipers right up there with LDS. Funny how with out the so called "idol worshipers" you wouldn't have a christian religion, or this western culture we enjoy so much. That's one good thing I'll say for Constantine.

I understand too is an adverb and to is a preposition, I still prefer using to in place of too.

The way I see it I'll save maybe 5-10 minutes over my lifetime not typing that extra o at the end of to. Even typing up this explanation saves me more time than typing that extra o

I do not understand why some many people have their head in the sand about muslims. The fact is that recent immigrants from other backgrounds are NOT a domestic terror thread, but [some] recent immigrants from muslim countries are. To reduce that threat what should we do? Place our heads in the sand and say, "Well, they are not all terrorists"? Or stop it at the source.

If one day per year, drinking tap water at my house makes me violently ill, guess when I will drink tap water at my house in the future: NEVER.

    Keep the muslims out. Period.
