    issues with eotech

i just ordered a eotech 517 for my m4 and i am seeing 2 halos. i even read the manual and tried turning it down still i see 2. had my brother look at it, he saw 2 also. i sent it to eotech, talked with them and they said they only saw 1 halo. i recieved it back from them and still i see it. im not sure what to do now. is anyone else having this same issue? any advice please.

Sounds like you might possibly have an astigmatism.

Stop looking into it and look through it at a distant target. Focus on the target. Very common complaint and when you hand it to someone else and say look at it they do the same thing.

i will try it. so this isnt the eotech at fault? so far ive been getting hints that it must be something that im doing. if i cant get this straightened out i will get a refund. maybe look for aimpoint.

You see the similar posts with Aimpoints. It comes up so often they have a FAQ on their web site to address it. Bases on our customers experience most of the time it just takes a little practice. Occasionally it is a astigmatism and that takes need glasses to correct it.

I agree that you may be focusing on the reticle, which could potentially do what you're talking about. However...

And I highly doubt that your gun stores have the training or equipment to make the determination as to whether or not you have an astigmatism or some other thing going on with your eyes. If a gun shop had either, that'd be the World's Greatest Gun Shop in the World.

As it stands now, you doubt, but you don't know.

What's cheaper? A visit to an optho dude and maybe needing glasses/contacts (maybe not), or spending $$$ & time on optics. If you eliminate your own eyes as a possible culprit, you narrow your torubleshooting path to being device-specific. It makes things easier, not harder.

That may come off sounding pedantic and preachy...but that's only because it is.

And if its not your eyes, but it is actually your EOTech, I would just give EOTech a call, their customer service is first rate, you will get a repaired 517 back in your hands with week.

Replace an EOTech with an Aimpoint is just AP fan boy's jealous talk...
