Huh? Did you just make that up or something you got from the internet?
I'll have to see some documentation on that...like an actual clinical case.
Even still I'd bet the odds of that are so astronomical that when faced with an arterial bleed I'm still using the granules if I've got no combat gauze.

I didn't say I believed it or advocated it. I said that's what I believe he's talking about because it's on the internet. More clearly stated; there is a fear that the clot or portions of the clot can break away and cause an embolism. It may or may not be possible, but if it's a choice of letting someone bleed out or chancing an embolism while stopping them from certain death. I'll take my chances.

Fair enough but that can happen irrespective of whether one uses hemostats or not. Hell you don't even have to have an open wound to throw a clot.
It's simply not a reason not to use it when faced with the very real threat of shock caused by hemorrhage. Combat Gauze is preferred, use Quik Clot if that's all you've got.
No reflection on you but I wish I could find the sources of these internet rumors...so I could smack these people upside the head...repeatedly.

I'm not some dude who just took a TCCC course, I teach PHTLS to SOCOM & MASOC.
