    I believe it's called a mechanical advantage.
I can use a cheater pipe, but in my experience (in a hurry in my small amount of time) it that it just breaks teeth on the bbl nut more easily and more quickly.

Sure the pipe wrench bends the bbl nut teeth, it doesn't matter as I don't reuse the bbl nut removed with a pipe wrench.

Any suggestion for a less expensive item that will work similar for changing FS's? without marring the barrel.
    Thanks

I can think of nothing that works as good as the rubber coated vise blocks. I know that some use a piece of leather with a set of regular vise blocks.

I just wrap a really heavy piece of leather around the FSB and clamp that in the vise.

Are FH's torqed on really hard from the factory normally? How much should a Phantom be tightened? With claming the FSB in the vise wraped it wont move or damage anything? All of this maintanence and changing stuff is new to me, it was nice just to give everything to the unit armorer to take care of lol.

I try not to tighten them past 15-20ft lbs, I have about 6 crush washers stuck to one of my magnets at my work bench. I try one until it times correctly within 15-20ft lbs. If the customer is using a Gem-Tech HALO I use a peel washer and/or a little bit of Rocksett.

My wifes Primary Weapons FSC556 timed up right at 15lbs without any washer, so I added a little Rocksett to it because her Gem-Tech M4-96 is getting converted into a HALO.
