    .

To those at Forster reading this thread:

I bought one of the 5.56mm, M16 Headspace Gages (Field Service) from Bill Ricca, because nobody else had them. I would recommend you make 5.56mm Go, No Go, and Field Gages which do not require removal of the ejector or extractor for sale. I would still buy the Go and No Go gages to fill out my set.

I just sucked it up and ordered from Bill Ricca. Nice to be able to check headspace so quickly.

Personally I think $40 is a perfectly reasonable price considering a set of gauge blocks in a machine shop can cost $2000 or more. Not to mention the Bill Ricca gauges are personally endorsed by IG

Out of curiousity why won't you buy one from Bill Ricca? They are the milspec gage listed in the TM.

I know that Brownells sells them, but they are not pre-cut like the government model. I see only one place to buy them, but I would like to see if I can buy from the manufacturer or from someone other than billricca.com. Thanks.

Or maybe he was looking for a more affordable gauge. Ricca's gauge is around $40 while Brownells has a set for $50. Its not hard to imagine one wondering why Ricca's gauge is twice the price and trying to see if a cheaper one is available.

Pacific Tool and Gauge makes headspace gauges. Pretty sure that they aren't pre cut for the AR bolt though, but they may be worth a call to see how much. My guess is that the pre cut ones are going to be considered a specialty item by almost anyone so the Ricca route will be the least painful in the end. You'll end up with a milspec gauge that is easy to use for a decent price.

The Rock Island Arsenal produces head space gauges for the US government. I do not know if they are the sole provider, but I know they produce them and do not sell them to civilians.
Really glad to be done with MSAR.

DPMS may be worth a call as well. Perusing their site tonight pricing a 308 LPK I found headspace gauges. They have 762 gauges that appear to have a relief cut in the rim for what I assume is the extractor. The pics of the 556 gauges don't show the cut, but may have them. The description states Forster gauges, but when I checked the Forster site they list nothing about the relief nor does the picture they have up show it.

I called Forster and informed them they should have theirs cut as there is no reason not to especially for the 5.56mm gages.

I went to BillRicca.com and couldn't find them listed. Are his ordered by request only?
