It appears to me that your math is off, right out of the gate.

the C3 is $375-$400, $450 with an ADM mount from G&R. I suppose if you add the QRP2 mount back in at $100 retail, that means the PRO is a $300 optic, but that still only puts it $70-$100 lower than the C3.

But I have an email in to one of their military sales guys to see what he has to say.

Disclaimer: I am a normal, suburb dwelling finance geek. The closest I have ever been to a firefight was a frat party in Newark, NJ.

I have a hard time trusting any optic whose battery life is listed in the form of "hours" and not "years" after leaving my CompM3 on since I bought it in '09. I changed the battery a few months ago out of paranoia. It's lived on my M1A and now my KAC SR-15 and has never had a single hiccup. Still looks brand new despite a few courses and thousands of .308 and now .223 rounds.

Hahaha. Why is that hard to trust an optic thats batt. life measured in hours? Military helos are logged in hours? And most only fly 1000 hours a year. The Eotech ONLY has a 500 hour batt. life? Ive never changed my batt. out and have had it for quite awhile now, its not that hard to turn it on. A pushh of a button and VOILA! Instant comfort!

I have a history of running out of batteries when I need things most and the last thing I want to do if I NEED my rifle is have to fumble with anything more than a charging handle or safety. Ever try sitting through a 2nd cousin's kid's baptism without a charged up ipod?

HAHAHA! No I havent but it sounds like it would go south perty quick lol. I hate when my ipod dies. I dont blame you man. At least when your ipod dies in a life or death situation you still have half a chance. It WOULD be pretty cool to have a cool song when youre kickin ass though

Sorry...please excuse the math. I didn't think of the C3 when making my in-brain comparison.

But yeah, I'd be curious to know where the..uh..savings were made in bringing the C3 in so far below the M4, and in turn bringing the PRO so far below that. Doesn't appear that they skimped features. Where, then?

Generally speaking the T-1 and M4 represent the most current tech. It shouldn't be that hard to understandthat the older tech is going to be the least expensive. Aimpoint has been smart about things though and for the most part carried over battery life improvements to the lower end models as best they can. IIRC the diode in he T-1 is the same as that in the M4.

But for those that prefer to measure their battery life with a stopwatch instead of a calendar this may be hard to understand.

This one is going in the annals of the great Aimpoint/EOTech debate. Period.

With the introduction of XPS, battery life will be the only thing AP fans has to be happy about.
