AR pistol picture thread

Both my pistols. Top one is a 7.5 inch 300 blackout build which folds up nicely in a backpack for a vehicle gun. Bottom one is my suppressed AR-9 that sits beside my bed at night. Also have a 10.5 inch 223 upper that I use on the same lower as the top gun.

This is quite the topic for debate. This gun measures over 26” with the brace fully extended. Some will say that the measurement should be taken by using the end of the RE. I’ve seen an open letter from the ATF stating the measurement is taken just like one would measure an SBR’s OAL, with the brace to the most extended position. That makes the most logical sense to me, so I don’t worry about it. The forward grip isn’t a true 90 degrees either way. As far as I’m concerned this is a “firearm”.

I know this is all kinds of debatable depending on the person but does your opinion on what it is matter ? I only ask because when I built mine I had to settle for a 10.3 barrel when I wanted the 11.3 because everyone screamed that if I went over the 26in then I had to sbr it and couldnt use a brace . But then I also see tons of people with braces , 11.3 , and vfg so it confuses me . (I'm also in Michigan)

Being over 26” has nothing to do with needing to SBR the gun. Not sure where you saw that but whoever said it was just plain wrong. Being over 26” with a vfg just means the gun is considered a “firearm” rather than a “pistol”. There is no length cutoff a pistol/firearm that requires SBR’ing.

I here ya I was reading a bunch of places and what sucks is i asked like 4 different ffl stores and they all gave different information so iys hard to decipher the real law , so I just went with under 26 with brace
